Serving as a prequel to 2012's The Hunger Games and the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film franchise, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is an American dystopian action film based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Set 64 years before the events of the first Hunger Games film, the plot depicts the events that lead a young Coriolanus Snow on the journey of becoming the tyrannical leader of Panem, which includes his relationship with the District 12 tribute of the Hunger Games, Lucy Gray Baird during its 10th edition. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film features performances from Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.
