The Godfather is a 1972 American crime drama movie which revolves around the Corleone family, one of the major Mafia families in America. Don Vito Corleone, head of the family, has three sons— Sonny, Fredo and Michael— and a daughter named Connie. As old age approaches, he decides to hand over his empire to his youngest son Michael. However, this only leads to more bloodshed, and the movie explores the succession of power in the Corleone family. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the film is adapted from the eponymous Mario Puzo’s novel. The movie stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Diane Keaton and John Cazale in the lead roles.
