The Catcher Was a Spy is a biographical drama based on the true story of Moe Berg, played by Paul Rudd, a former professional baseball player turned spy for the United States government during World War II. Berg is recruited by the OSS, the precursor to the CIA, to go on a dangerous mission to assassinate a top German scientist working on developing the first atomic bomb. Despite being an unlikely spy, Berg's linguistic skills and sharp intellect make him a valuable asset. With the help of fellow agents and scientists, Berg travels across Europe and ultimately reaches his target in Switzerland. However, the mission proves more complex than anticipated, and Berg must make difficult choices that have far-reaching consequences. The film is directed by Ben Lewin and co-stars Jeff Daniels, Sienna Miller, and Guy Pearce in prominent roles.
