Take off is a drama and thriller Malayalam film that was released in the year 2017 and based on the ordeal of Indian nurses in Iraq. This movie marks the directorial debut of Mahesh Narayan, which becomes one of his great creations after the success of this real-time story. This movie revolves around the real events that happened in 2014, laced with the director's own fiction spin on the incidents. Certain differences and identical scenes that the director decided upon was first of all the number of nurses in the group. He included 19 nurses, while in reality, they were 46 members. Secondly, these groups of nurses were relocated to Mosul by the militants, which happened like reality, but another crucial decision was made when the nurses were stopped from traveling with the Red cross rescue operation, which was the identical scene used in the movie. Parvathy Thiruvothu, as Sameera and other Indian nurses working in Iraq, are held hostage by the terrorists, during the early days of the ISIS crisis in Iraq. It explores the story of these nurses being rescued by Mohan and other people involved in the rescue mission.
