Special 26 is a heist thriller film written and directed by Neeraj Pandey. It is based on the 1987 Opera House heist, in which a group of con men posing as CBI officers raided a jewellery store in Mumbai and made away with millions of rupees.The film stars Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Sheirgill, Kajal Aggarwal, Rajesh Sharma, Divya Dutta and Kishor Kadam.The film opens in 1987, with a group of four con men posing as CBI officers raiding a jewellery store in Mumbai. The leader of the gang, Ajay Singh played by Akshay Kumar is a charismatic and intelligent man who has carefully planned the heist. The other members of the gang are Sharmaji played by Anupam Kher, a veteran con man Iqbal played by kishore Kadam and Joginder played by Rajesh Sharma. The gang is very successful in their raids, and they manage to rob several high profile politicians and businessmen. But when Waseem Khan played by Manoj Bajpayee who is a CBI officer, is put on the case to track down the gang.Khan is a determined and intelligent officer, and he is slowly able to close in on the gang. However, Ajay Singh is always one step ahead of him.The film culminates in a final showdown between the gang and the CBI, as Ajay Singh plans to pull off his biggest heist yet.
