Passages

Tomas, a German filmmaker and Martin, an English printer are married. At Tomas' wrap-up party, he meets Agathe, a young primary school teacher and begins a sexually charged and passionate relationship with the woman. He comes clean to his husband that he might be falling in love with someone new due to their comfortable and riskless marriage. Caught in a three-way emotional frenzy, Tomas, Agathe and Martin grapple with their sexualities, desires and infidelities in an intense, introspective journey. This French romantic drama film is written and directed by Ira Sachs and stars Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Erwan Kepoa Falé, William Nadylam, Caroline Chaniolleau, and Olivier Rabourdin as signficiant characters. 


Following its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, Passages received praise and admiration for it's potrayal of queer intimacy and a thoughtful and humanistic potrayal of romantic fervour. The film's sexual content earned it a NC-17 rating from the Motion Picture Association in America, much to disdain of American audience and film critics.
