Papillon, is a historical and crime-drama film 1973 movie, directed by Franklin J. Schaffner. The movie explores the life of Henri Charrière “Papillon”, a safecracker from the Parisian underworld, falsely convicted for murder and sentenced to life. Papillon plans with Dega to escape but gets caught by the authorities and moves him to the remote penal colony on Devil’s Island. Papillon, yet again looking at the powerful waves from a high cliff, plans to escape. It is stated that after taking that leap from the cliff, he was carried out to sea to the nearby mainland and lived the rest of his life a free man.
