"Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee" (MNMN), a 2022 Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age film, marks the directorial debut of Darbuka Siva, who also composed the film's music. Produced by Sameer Bharat Ram, this production showcases a predominantly fresh cast and crew. The movie made its debut on January 21, 2022, on ZEE5 and was met with a positive reception upon its release.
Set in the '90s, the film introduces a group of teenage boys from a Catholic school embarking on their 11th year. Among this group are friends such as Vinoth, Surender/Su, Chinese, Naushad, Richard, Durai, Francis, and others, all studying in the Commerce stream. Their curiosity is piqued when two girls from the same school, Rekha and Anu, cross their paths. Vinoth and Rekha, in a clandestine relationship for three years, share a passion for listening to A. R. Rahman's songs on a Walkman. Vinoth's aspiration to become a music director is ardently supported by Rekha, who even gifts him a guitar for his birthday.
However, a new student named Victoria/Vicky joins the Commerce stream, and her interest in Vinoth creates tension. As the story unfolds, Rekha becomes increasingly suspicious of the bond between Vinoth and Vicky, leading to jealousy and possessiveness. When she witnesses an intimate moment between Vicky and Vinoth, their relationship takes a tragic turn.
A school reunion reunites the friends, each with their own life stories and challenges. As they gather, they come to terms with the changes life has brought them and find moments of solace and connection.
The cast includes Kishen Das as Vinoth, Meetha Raghunath as Rekha, Harish Kumar as Chinese, Goutham CSV as Surendra, and Varun Rajan as Richard, among others."
