Misery, a 1990 movie, is directed by Rob Reiner. It is an American psychological-thriller and drama film, based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The movie stars James Caan as Paul Sheldon and Kathy Bates as Annie. A successful series of Victorian romance novels’ author, Paul Sheldon, writes a manuscript for a new novel that he hopes will launch his post-Misery career. During his trip home to New York City, he gets caught in a blizzard, and Annie Wilkes, a nurse, brings him to her home. As Paul regains consciousness, he finds Annie in front of him, who claims to be his fan. Paul even shows her his new “Misery” manuscript, but Annie’s expression changes as she comes to the end of the story. While Annie asks Paul to write the manuscripts again, Paul learns about her trial for the deaths of several infants. Annie is so obsessed with Paul that she decides that both of them should die together. With tortures coming along while escaping, Paul is scared that he might not be able to escape and would die with a mentally unstable person. The movie turns out to be a must-watch and ranks the fourth place in his list of "10 Claustrophobic Horror Films" during the year 2009.
