Meera (1979)

This is the story of a 16th century princess who was a devotee of Lord Krishna. To strengthen ties between two provinces against the growing Mughal empire, Princess Meera (Hema Malini) is married off to Raja Vikramajit's (Shammi Kapoor) son. But soon, they realise Meera not only refuses to forget Lord Krishna, whom she considers her husband, but also fails to fulfil her duties as a wife and a daughter-in-law. Enraged by her adamant spiritual pursuit, she is ordered to drink poison. Will Lord Krishna intervene or will Meera make the ultimate sacrifice for her undying devotion?
