Marhi Da Deeva is a 1989 Indian Punjabi - language film that is written by Gurdial Singh and directed by Surinder Singh. It is a drama film that stars Raj Babbar, Deepti Naval, Parikshit Sahni, Pankaj Kapoor and Kanwaljit. The film was a huge success and went on to win the National Award. The film is set after the independence of India and follows the life of a boy from a small village in Punjab named Jasbir. He is the son of a sharecropper named Thola and his mother belonged to a nomed caste. Jasbir tries his best to get ahead in life but problems don't seem to end for him.
