After a monster-influenced-apocalypse put an end to normal life on earth, few survivors take shelter underground. Amid the unstable situation, Joel (Dylan O'Brien) reconnects with his ex-girlfriend, who lives 80 miles away in a different colony. He decides to take on the perilous journey to reach her.
