"Lakshya" is a 2004 Hindi war-drama coming-of-age film produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Farhan Akhtar. The film stars Hrithik Roshan as Captain Karan Shergill, Amitabh Bachchan as Colonel Sunil Damle, and Preity Zinta as Romila Dutta, also known as Romi. The supporting cast includes Boman Irani as Sanjeev Shergill, Karan's father, and Anjula Bedi in various roles. Based on the 1999 Kargil War, the story revolves around Karan Shergill, a directionless young man from Delhi who joins the Indian Army, motivated by a desire to prove himself to his girlfriend Romila Dutta.

The plot follows Karan's journey as he evolves from an aimless individual to a disciplined officer in the Indian Army. He initially struggles with the challenges of military life but eventually excels. As he serves in Kargil, he reunites with Romi, who is stationed there as a war correspondent. Their rekindled relationship and Karan's newfound dedication to his role as an officer are central to the story.

Cinematography for "Lakshya" is handled by Christopher Popp, while Anand Subaya takes charge of the film's editing. The music score is composed by the renowned trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, contributing to the film's emotive and atmospheric soundtrack.

At the 50th Filmfare Awards, "Lakshya" garnered critical acclaim, securing four nominations, including Best Director for Farhan Akhtar and Best Actor for Hrithik Roshan. The film won two awards, Best Choreography (Prabhu Deva for "Main Aisa Kyun Hoon...") and Best Cinematography. While not a blockbuster, "Lakshya" garnered a dedicated following.
