Written and directed by Nagraj Manjule in his directorial debut, Fandry is a 2013 Marathi language film starring Kishore Kadam, Suraj Pawar, Somnath Avghade & Chhaya Madam. The film won the Indira Gandhi Award for best debut film of a director at the 61st National film Awards. Jabya, a boy in his teens belonging from an oppressed caste lives in the outskirts of a village with his parents and two sisters. Jabya falls in one sided love with one of his classmates Shalu who belongs to an upper caste family. Jabya wants to break barriers of caste system around him but things turn 180 and he himself does things to draw that line of separation between their community and upper caste people. Irony plays out pretty well in the film.
