Empire of Light

Empire of Light is an English romance drama written and directed by Sam Mendes, of Skyfall (2012) fame starring Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman (The Favourite, 2018) and BAFTA award winner Micheal Ward (The Old Guard, 2020) along with Toby Jones (The Hunger Games, 2012), Colin Firth (A Single Man, 2009), Tom Brooke (Preacher, 2016) and Tanya Moodie (Motherland, 2016). Set in the early 1980s, the film follows Hilary and Stephen, who both work at the movie theatre in their coastal town. They overcome personal mental health challenges and grow together, a testament to the healing power of human connection.
