Based on the book Downton Abbey by Julian Fellowes, the winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2002, the historical drama film is the second part of the series. The movie is set in the south of France where the family members try to uncover the mystery behind Dowager Countess` newly inherited villa. The film stars Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley, Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, and Phyllis Logan, among others. Directed by Simon Curtis, an English director, and producer who is acknowledged for his feature films My Week with Marilyn (2011) and Woman in Gold (2015).
