Moolamkuzhiyil Sahadevan, the son of a police officer, has always dreamed of becoming a Sub-Inspector one day. Despite his hard work and dedication, the conspiratorial police department denies him the oppurtunity to clear the SI exam. Dejected, he starts a private investigation agency that unexpectantly shoots him to fame. He thus begins to unravels the mysterious and life-threatening links between a vicious police officer and the terrorists that seem to be targetting the chief minister of the state. C.I.D Moosa is a Malayalam action-comedy film written by the duo, Udaykrishna–Sibi K. Thomas and directed by Johny Antony. Dileep plays the lead character of the private detective along with memorable performances by Ashish Vidyarthi as the antagonist and Harisree Ashokan, Cochin Haneefa, Jagathy Sreekumar, Captain Raju, Oduvil Unnikrishnan and Bhavana.
The film was the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2003 and has since amassed a cult following for its timeless slapstick comedy and rewatch quality. The success of C.I.D Moosa prompted remakes in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada titled Cheena Thaana 001, Ramachari and CID Eesha respectively. The soundtrack of the film was handled by Vidyasagar, with lyrics written by Gireesh Puthenchery, delivering some of the most revisited Malayalam songs.
