The film tells the story of a 12-year-old girl, Kanna, born as a descendant of the Gods. Her family is on a task to deliver oblation from all over Japan to the Gods’ gathering in Izumo. Although Kanna’s mother was to complete the mission, her death prompted Kanna to finish the task, hoping she could reunite and reconnect with her dead mother in the Gods’ land as soon as her quest finishes. Kanna has to battle between finding her purpose and the great yearning to see her mother again. The anime film toys with the idea of untapped and unexcavated guilt. Kamiari Month originally began life as a crowdfunding campaign in 2019. The film was animated by Liden Films, which is behind Terra Formars and Tokyo Revengers. In the director's chair is Takana Shirai, who worked on the Berserk: The Golden Age trilogy among many other projects. The lead role is portrayed by sixteen-year-old theatre actor Mia Sinclair Jenness, who portrayed young Powder in Netflix's Arcane. Talking rabbit is portrayed by Luci Christian, who is best known as the voice of Nami in the Funimation dub of One Piece.
