High in the Indian Himalayas is the small, little-known realm of Zanskar. Hemmed in by 7000-meter high mountains, the valley is cut off from the rest of the world throughout the winter. The 120-km long, icy trail along the Chadar river is their only way out. Every year, the Zanskari men, women and children undertake this perilous journey, enduring bitter cold, fatigue, and thirst. Watch them as they take heavy planks of timber through the winding gorges of the Chadar on their journey home.
