Boatman of the River Padma

Goutom Ghosh’s directed, Padma Nadir Majhi is an Indo-Bangladesh co-production film released in 1993. The film is based on a novel “Padma Nadir Majhi” written by Manik Bandopadhyay. The film stars Champa, Rabi Ghosh, Roopa Ganguly, Raisul Islam Asad, Utpal Dutt and several others. The storyline of this film delineate Hossian Miya, a Bengali Muslim who needs to give his locale a hopeful life. To accomplish this, he needs to populate an island in the Padma Delta. Though he tries his best but there are many difficulties in his way to accomplish this. The film received many awards including the award for the Best Feature Film at the National Film awards in both India and Bangladesh.
