Bawarchi

Bawarchi, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee was released on 7 July 1972 and revolves around Raghu (Rajesh Khanna) and the Sharma Family, the movie is narrated by Amitabh Bachchan. The Sharma Family is a joint family which Lives in Shanti Niwas but unlike the name the House has no Peace. When their servant left Raghu came in as their new servant who no one recalls asking but are glad to have. Raghu is not only an excellent cook but also a great dancer and singer. He easily wins over the hearts of everyone in the family. Raghu learns that Karishma (Jaya Bachchan), the recluse daughter of Daduji's dead son and daughter-in-law was in love with Arun. No one in her family accepted Arun which pains the girl. One day the Sharma’s see the jewellery box stolen and they think it is Raghu which is when Arun comes and tells them that he caught Raghu and got the box from him. The family curses and abuses Raghu which Arun couldn’t take and tells them the truth. That Raghu had stolen it so that Krishna's lover can get back his place in the house. The family is ashamed to think that they thought so wrongly about him. Karishma meets Raghu and he tells her that professor Prabhakar and he had seen many families like the Sharmas which were on the brink of breaking up and took it upon himself to save the family.
