Set in Yucatán, Mexico circa 1502, Jaguar Paw, a Mesoamerican hunter, and his fellow tribesmen are apprehended by invaders. After the destruction of their village, they embark on a dangerous journey to a Mayan city for human sacrifice. Produced, co-written, and directed by Mel Gibson, the epic historical adventure film features performances from a Native American and Indigenous Mexican cast comprising Rudy Youngblood, Raoul Trujillo, Mayra Sérbulo, Dalia Hernández, Jonathan Brewer, Gerardo Taracena, Rodolfo Palacios, Bernardo Ruiz Juarez, Ammel Rodrigo Mendoza, Ricardo Diaz Mendoza and Israel Contreras, among many others. Farhad Safinia and Bruce Davey also serve as a writer and a producer, respectively. Mel Gibson is popularly known for his award-winning epic biblical drama film The Passion of Christ.
