Based on the novel by Gurdial Singh and Directed by Gurvinder Singh, Anhe Ghore Da Daan is a 2011 Punjabi language film starring Kul Sidhu, Gurpreet Bhangu & Samuel John. The film won several National Awards for Best Feature Film, Best direction and Cinematography. The story travels away from the urban lifestyle and problems to the rural backdrop. It highlights the issues of farmers which are often not talked about because they're not glamorous. Villagers work on the lands owned by landlords but are exhausted from the day to day exploitation. The problems extend and deepen when the land is sold to an industry. People have had enough of it and are resorting to violence to deal with it.
