Ali, is a 2001 biopic based on the life of the famous boxer legend; Muhammad Ali directed by Michael Mann. The story follows with Cassius Clay Jr.’s first championship debut was against the then-heavyweight champion Sonny Liston. The fight was going great and Cassius won the match even though in the second round his eyes burnt and for a moment he couldn’t see. Cassius was invited by Elijah Muhammad, to the home of Nation of Islam where he was given the infamous name, Muhammad Ali. His father heavily disapproved of the name but Ali kept the name. Muhammad later on goes to marry Sonji Roi, an ex-Playboy Bunny. He meets Malcolm X in Africa but does not speak to him due to the promise he made to Elijah Muhammad. Ali is heartbroken when he learns of the assassination of Malcom X. Once Ali returns to America after his trip to Africa he one more goes up against Sonny and wins. Later his wife divorces him due to restrictions Muslim women have. During the Vietnam War, Ali refused conscription for the war and was stripped of his boxing license, passport and title. Ali was also sentenced to five years in prison. Later, he married a 17-year-old girl named Belinda Boyd and also got his boxing licence back. He fought Jerry Quarry and won, Ali also tries to regain his heavyweight championship title but loses against Joe Frazier. Ali did end up winning the title back by defeating George Foreman who won the title from Joe Frazier.
