Airlift

Airlift is a 2016 Indian thriller film based on the true events that occurred during the Gulf War in 1990. The film tells the story of Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy Indian businessman based in Kuwait, who lives a carefree life with his family until Iraq invades Kuwait in August 1990. As the situation becomes dangerous and chaotic, Ranjit finds himself responsible for the safety of more than 170,000 Indian expatriates stranded in Kuwait. Ranjit becomes the spokesperson for the stranded Indians and starts working to evacuate them out of Kuwait. As the situation worsens, Ranjit puts his own life at risk to ensure the safety of his people. With the help of the Indian government and other organizations, he manages to organize the largest civilian evacuation in history. Directed by Raja Menon, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur, Prakash Belawadi, Inaamulhaq, Lena and Kumud Mishra in prominent roles.
