A Bronx Tale is a 1993 crime drama film directed by Robert De Niro. It deals with the frequent gang fights in the 90s between Italian-Americans and African-Americans.It is adapted from a 1989 play written by Chazz Palminteri. The movie revolves around an Italian-American boy, Calogero whose father; Lorenzo, a bus driver, disapproves of his friendship with a mobster named Sonny.Calogero becomes a part of a gang of Italian-American boys, which concerns Sonny. Calogero ends up falling for a black girl, Jane who he asks out. Later that day Calogero's friends end up beating up black cyclists and one of them was Jane’s brother. Calogero tried to stop this but wasn’t successful. Jane’s brother accuses Calogero of violence making him angry and Jane leaves with her brother. The black boys egg the Italian-American boys’ spot and the Italian-Americans use Molotov cocktails to strike back. Jane on the other hand finds Calogero who then leaves and apologises for the misunderstanding. The two run to stop the violence but see that one of the Molotov cocktails got into the car burning them. Sonny gets shit when Calogero goes to meet him. At his funeral he meets Carmine who Sonny saves long back who tells him that he will be filling Sonny’s shoes for a while. Even Calogero’s father comes and professes his apologies to Sonny and the father - son duo leaves.
