8 Thottakkal was roughly inspired by the Japanese movie Stray Dog, which was released in 1949 and was remade in Kannada as 8MM Bullet. With Sri Ganesh’s direction, the film follows an orphan boy, Satya, who gets framed for murder and sent to juvenile. This crime thriller follows the story of an honest policeman, Satya, who accidentally loses his service pistol, which is found by Murthy, who goes on a killing spree. The movie has been criticized for including songs that break the mood and the Impulse of the ongoing thriller and chilling chase between Satya and Murthy. Despite its minor flaws, the film comes out to be a satisfying investment of two hours with Vetri and Aparna Balamurali in the lead.
