In Kiranraj K.'s Kannada adventure drama directorial debut, he weaves the tale of a desolate factory worker named Dharma who lives a joyless existence but has comfortably settled into the lonliness. With nothing to excite him and nothing to look forward to he passes his days by waiting for nothing. His seculsion worries close ones and acquaintances but none of it makes a difference to his worldview. All of this changes when one morning a labrador puppy appears on Dharma's doorstep forcing him to pay attention to the canine visitor. Despite his best efforts to have the dog adopted, the furry friend makes himself at home. Soon, Dharma and his canine ally Charlie embark on a journey to rediscover the light of life and magic of existence in a adventurous tale of companionship and hope.
The film stars Charlie, Rakshit Shetty, Sangeetha Sringeri, Raj B. Shetty, Danish Sait and Bobby Simha in prominent roles in the emotionally-loaded drama. Despite it's limited theatrical release post-Covid, 777 Charlie became the fifth highest-grossing Kannada film at the time of it's release. It also bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film In Kannada in the year 2022. The film was also responsible for the spike in demand for labradors immediately after it's release. Moved by the film's impact, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Karthik Subbaraj respectively expressed interest in producing a Malayalam and Tamil-dubbed version of 777 Charlie.
