 August 16, 1947 is a multilingual action-drama film written and directed by N S Ponkumar. The film revolves around the Indian Independence, and the story portrays how a village was kept from the fact that they gained freedom. The British kept ruling them and kept them as slaves in their own nation. One man finally decides to stand up towards these injustices and fights for the freedom of his village. The film stars Gautham Karthik, Pugazh, Richard Ashton, Revathy and Jason Shah in prominent roles.
