Urvashi Dholakia is best known for essaying the role of Komolika in Kasautii Zindagi Kay. The actress played a negative character, which eventually became one of the most iconic roles in Indian television. In the TV show, the actress shared screen space with Shweta Tiwari, who was seen as Prerna Basu. Sixteen years after Kasautii Zindagi Kay ended, Urvashi and Shweta reprised their characters for a viral ad. The duo added a Gen Z touch to it. Now, in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Urvashi has opened up about her reunion with Shweta.
Speaking with us, Urvashi Dholakia shared her experience working with Shweta Tiwari after Kasautii Zindagi Kay. The duo conversed as Komolika and Prerna in Gen Z lingo.
About reprising their characters from the show with a Gen Z touch, Urvashi told OTTplay, "That happened after 16 years. We came together after 16 years of the show being completely shut. It was a great experience. But it didn't feel like that it's (Kasautii Zindagi Kay) ended."
The actress further mentioned, "It felt like we were continuing on the same, except for the Gen Z lingo, which was really funny. We've never conversed like that. See, we're professionals. You can't take everything into so much of detail. It was good fun to come back together to do this whole Gen Z thing. Why not? I like moving ahead with times and I'm happy and very thankful that people still want to see us around, see me around, my character, and me in my character."
Continuing the conversation, Urvashi revealed that many people, who imitated her character Komolika, also succeeded in their careers. "There are so many others who try to mimic me and they've come a long way after mimicking me. Let me be very clear, they've come a long way in their careers also but they can never be me. So yes, I'm very thankful. Mujhe bahut pasand aaya (I liked it). I am hoping to do much more (things) like that," she said, on a concluding note.
Meanwhile, Urvashi's new project, Power of Paanch, is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. It premiered on January 17, 2025. You can also stream it on OTTplay Premium.
