Satyam Bhattacharya on Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo: Anirbanda and Debraj praised my performance as Manilal | Exclusive

With Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Satyam Bhattacharya’s calibre as an actor got reinstated in the Bengali film industry. He has already worked with big production houses, including Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Ray in their upcoming thriller, Raktabeej. Meanwhile, his portrayal of Manilal in Dev’s Byomkesh O Durgo Rohoshyo garnered appreciation. He will soon be seen in Abhinandan Dutta’s web series The Nandini Murder Case, in which his co-actor from Ballabhpurer Roopkotha, Debraj Bhattacharya, will also play an important character. In a chat with OTTplay, Satyam opened up about his experience. 

Talking about the public reaction after the release of Byomkesh, Satyam said that he has been getting a lot of love from the audience. “I personally liked the film because it delivered what it promised. Many people praised me on social media. People who know me texted or called me to congratulate me. I was slightly worried if people would accept me as Manilal after my character in Ballabhpur, which is a comedy. Anirbanda (Bhattacharya, actor, and director of Ballabhpur) and Debraj (Bhattacharya, actor) also congratulated me. Interestingly, Debraj will play the character of Manilal in Srijit Mukherji’s Byomkesh web series, Durgo Rawhoshyo, in which Anirban plays Byomkesh.

Meanwhile, Debraj is also a part of The Nandini Murder Case. “The series is a film within a film in which I play the hero, Rohit, of the inside film. The actress, Nandini Chatterjee gets murdered and Debraj plays her husband. Lokada (Loknath Dey) plays the character of the police inspector and we all become suspects,” elaborated Satyam. 

Talking about the experience, the actor said, “We all know each other so there was a sense of familiarity. I think it is going to be good work.”

Satyan had to miss working in Jeet’s Boomerang due to his health. However, he will be seen in Rahool Mukherjee’s Hoichoi web series, Chowdhury Bari. The shooting of this series will start in mid-September.
