After her Laughter Chefs stint, Reem Shaikh recently featured in a new project. The actress played an important role in a web series, which is titled Ek Farzi Love Story. Reem's show dropped on Amazon MX Player on January 10, 2025. In the series, the actress played the role of a content creator Kritika. During her show's promotions, OTTplay exclusively interviewed Reem, who spoke about being real on social media, the pressure, and more.
In a conversation with us, Reem Shaikh admitted it is difficult to be real on social media. "Honestly, it's tough. I'll not lie, it's tough to be yourself and be unfiltered where there are 1000s and millions of people judging you, commenting stuff that might be hard to read at times. But I think I have become thick-skinned being in this industry," said Reem.
The actress added that social media plays a big part in people's lives. Having said that, the Ek Farzi Love Story actress mentioned she tries to be as authentic as possible on social media. "Because I want people to feel confident in what they are, with their skin, with their weight and everything. So I try my best to be as natural and as real as I can," she added.
Reem went on to mention that there's a certain boundary that she has to create. Wondering why? The actress feels, "Nowadays, social media is also your portfolio for casting directors, directors, and producers. So it's tough, it is really tough. But I don't take social media pressure because I don't belong from that era."
However, Shaikh now feels the social media pressure. According to the actress, there are times when some casting directors look at one's social media following and then cast them. Otherwise, she believes one's talent takes them places.
Meanwhile, Reem's new series, Ek Farzi Love Story, is a modern take on social media influence, relationships, and personal growth. The show is a perfect blend of romance and drama.
