Plabita Borthakur, best known for her role in Lipstick Under My Burkha, is currently gearing up for the release of her new project. The actress will be seen playing the role of Amrita in ZEE5's upcoming web show, Pyaar Testing. Directed by Saptaraj Chakraborty and Shiva Varma, the series also stars Satyajeet Dubey in the lead role. The show explores the themes of marriage traditions, live-in relationships, and more. Ahead of its release, OTTplay did an exclusive interview with lead actor Plabita, who shared her thoughts about the concept of live-in relationships.
Plabita Borthakur on live-in relationships
In an exclusive conversation with us, Pyaar Testing actress Plabita Borthakur opined that the concept of a live-in relationship is not accepted much in our society. She backed her statement with a reason. The actress said, "I don't think it is mostly welcome at all in our society. Because in our society, unless you have done the phere (vows) and the marriage... it's like, oh my god, you can't be around a guy. I am exaggerating, but in a lot of families, it is still like that."
Plabita further mentioned, "A lot of girls, they're like, you can't have guy friends and you can't hang out with guys so much. So, I think it's a very new concept. Most of the people, who are now married or in their 30s... 10 years ago, most of the people who did have a live-in relationship — 90 or 95% of them did not tell their parents (about it)."
However, the actress feels the new generation is trying to convince parents and make an effort to say that 'we don't want to suffer and we want to be who we are'.
