Lust Stories 2 director Sujoy Ghosh on criticism: I am absolutely okay because I have signed up for this | Exclusive

Sujoy Ghosh is one of the notable filmmakers in the Indian film industry. He has recently directed the short titled 'Sex with the Ex' in the Netflix anthology Lust Stories 2. Along with that, he has also produced the new OTT film, Blind starring Sonam Kapoor and Purab Kohli. 

In a candid conversation with OTTplay, Ghosh mentioned how he roped in Vijay Varma and Tamannaah together for Lust Stories 2. Talking about the mixed reception of his story, the filmmaker shared his thought on how he takes criticism. 

Talking about casting Vijay and Tamanaah, he shared, "I am a slave to my script. My first and foremost thought is are they looking like the characters which are in my mind? If they look like those characters then fifty percent of my work is done. So that's I chose my actors for my projects."

He further mentioned, "Meanwhile, I have been working with Vijay for Devotion of Suspect X (which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat) and at the same time I met Tamannaah as well and she wanted to do something new. And after a while, this script came to me and we all set together and decide to make the film. But yet the actors had to fit the characters and they both did."

"However, sometimes it backfires also. If at the time of Badla, Amitabh (Bachchan) Sir would have said no to the film then that project would have been shelved, but thankfully he did not say no," he added.

While a lot of people loved Sujoy Ghosh's short in Lust Stories 2, a few viewers appeared disappointed with it as well. Taling about how he takes up criticism, the filmmaker mentioned, "Yes, it certainly affects me. But, this is what I have signed up for. With the good, bad also comes your way. I received a barrage of praise for Kahaani, and Lust Stories received loved as well and a little bit of criticism too. But at least it received something. A lot of people get nothing. I am absolutely okay because I have signed up for this."
