Lijomol discussed her hopes for the upcoming Malayalam web series Blindfold in an interview with OTTplay. It is anticipated that the Anzarulla-directed project will soon be available for streaming on Sony LIV. Claimed to be a crime thriller, this series stars Lijomol and Arjun Radhakrishnan in key roles.
“I personally love the digital space! As an actor, I think this platform gives me the chance to explore a variety of content and it opens up a lot of opportunities," the actress remarked. The actress made the point that, aside from not providing a big screen cinematic experience, streaming services provide movie buffs with a comfortable environment.
She is also excited about the opportunities she will have to explore after Blindfold, for which filming began last year, comes out. Although Lijomol stated that she is unable to provide further details about her character in the web series, she is certain that it is something she has never done before in her career.
The Nadanna Sambhavam star stated that although she does not want to be categorised, she finds it flattering when people say that she has a girl-next-door image. "I was constantly called up for a role if the film is based in Idukki. At one point, I had to turn down a lot of offers," the actress remarked.
"I want to be taken into consideration for more than just one kind of character. I always look out for roles that give me more room to explore the actor within me that I can relate to or feel secure in," Lijomol continued.
In a Tamil project, the actress—who has been shooting for a number of films over the past two years—will play a youngster who is trying to open up about her gender to her family. This year, she has a few more films scheduled, which should allow her to play different roles.
After Jai Bhim, Lijomol said she realised the significance of films in the society we live in. She clarified, though, that although she did not concentrate on socially accountable roles following Jai Bhim, people still expected her to be involved in more movies of this kind. "People have told me they did not want to cast me in their projects because they thought I wouldn't be interested in those films after the acclaim that I received for the Suriya-starrer," she went on.
Her latest film, Nadanna Sambhavam, is now streaming on Manorama Max.
