Gullak is one of the most loved OTT shows. The first season of the TVF show was released in 2019, with Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Harsh Mayar, and Vaibhav Raj Gupta in the lead roles. The web show's story revolving around the middle-class Mishra family resonated with the audiences. Cut to 2024, Gullak 4 is about to release on SonyLIV. Ahead of that, OTTplay interviewed Jameel Khan aka Santosh Mishra, who spoke about the response to Gullak season one.
Jameel Khan on audiences' reaction to Gullak 1
Speaking exclusively with us, Jameel Khan revealed how the audience reacted to the first two seasons of TVF's Gullak. The actor said that they got lucky when Gullak 2 released in 2021 as the audience response was positive.
Stating the reason behind it, Jameel told OTTplay, "In the second season, we were lucky in the sense that COVID-19 hit at that time and during that phase, people had time (at home). OTT provided content (to them) and Gullak was one of them. It reached a wider audience and was appreciated. Bohot strong boost mila."
However, Jameel admitted the audiences' response to Gullak's first season wasn't that great. "Yes, (response to) first season thoda sa thanda tha because OTT was a new medium at that point. Although I am not very active on social media, whatever little I saw on it, second season onwards (the love) started pouring in and it just multiplied with every season," added Khan.
Mishra family is back in Gullak 4
Meanwhile, the Mishras are back in the fourth season of Gullak. As the tagline of the show suggests, the fourth season will focus on new tales. The major highlight of Gullak 4 is its concept of adulting vs parenting. It will be interesting to see how Santosh, Shanti, Annu, and Aman will deal with new situations. Not to forget, Sunita Rajwar is reprising her character of Bittu ki Mummy in the series.
