The Signature director Gajendra Ahire reveals Anupam Kher's reaction to the film's story: 'Sunte sunte unke...' | Exclusive

Filmmaker Gajendra Ahire's movie The Signature opened to positive feedback from critics and audiences upon its OTT release. Starring Anupam Kher in the lead role, the film was released on October 4 on ZEE5 (and OTTplay Premium). Kher has essayed the role of Arvind Pathak in the Hindi adaptation of Ahire's Marathi movie Anumati (2013). In an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, Gajendra revealed Anupam's first reaction to The Signature's story.

How Anupam Kher reacted to The Signature's script

Speaking exclusively with us, Gajendra Ahire revealed it was an 'excellent experience' to work with Anupam Kher on The Signature. Revealing the actor's first reaction to his film's story, Ahire shared, "When I narrated the story to Anupam Kher ji, he listened to it very carefully. Sunte sunte kaan laal hogaye the(his ears became red) and he said 'I am doing this film, please narrate further'. Once I narrated the script, Anupam ji got involved and he became a producer of the film."

The filmmaker further mentioned that Kher, as the film's co-producer, took up several responsibilities. "It is because of him that the film was released on the screen. KC Bokadia sahab toh saath the hi mere. Later, Mahima (Chaudhry) ji came on board and I have worked a few times with Neena (Kulkarni) ji. So, it didn't feel like we were shooting, everyone was deeply involved," he added.

For the uninitiated, The Signature is a story about Arvind Pathak who faces several challenges after his wife Madhu becomes critically ill. He goes through emotional turmoil and struggles to source funds for his wife's medical treatment. The film's star cast also includes Manoj Joshi and Ranvir Shorey in supporting roles.
