Congratulations on your marriage. How is your newlywed life?

I think it is the same. It doesn’t feel any different. He lives in the UK and I have been going back and forth to meet him.

How are you managing a long-distance relationship? Is there any advice for those who are in a long-distance relationship?

I have been in this relationship for a long time and I have been doing this for a long time. Every relationship is different. I think communication is the key. You need to be on the same page. I have been in this relationship and I got used to it. It kind of works for me.

Tell us about Asomoye … your character and what attracted you?

I have a lot of faith in the director, Kajal Arefin Ome. together we had a lot of successful projects. In fact, the turning point in my career was a project, Ex-Boyfriend, which was directed by him. This is my first web film and when he knocked me I immediately said yes. I blindly agreed without even knowing the story because I had my trust in him. Then obviously we sat down together, discussed the story and I found out more about it. Mine is an interesting character. I don't know why I’ve never been approached with a story like this before. It is such a relatable content. It is simple and yet an important story for the time that we are going through right now. It is a perfect representation of the current restlessness,

After Karagar and Aaro Ek Prithibi, you have become a popular face in West Bengal also. A lot of actors and actresses from Bangladesh work regularly in West Bengal. What’s your plan regarding this?

One positive sign of globalisation is that your work can be seen by the whole world. Our horizon is widening and our scope of work is also getting wider. I am very much interested in working with many directors from Kolkata. But obviously, it doesn’t only depend on me. They have to come to me with a good script. I would love to collaborate once again after Aaro Ek Prithibi. I would love to work on scripts that are close to human nature and yet the characters have a global appeal.

In fact, I was supposed to work with Biplab Goswami in Patri Chai but that project got shelved.

Do you get to meet and take career advice from actors and actresses, like Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Mosharraf Karim, who are now popular and established artistes in Kolkata?

I don’t get to talk to Jaya Ahsan often as we didn’t work together. But I meet Chanchal Bhai and Mosarraf Bhai. We talk about work. If I get a script, I share it with them, I seek their opinion.

Finally, like many other celebrities, you also face trolls and negativities. In a recent incident, you reacted sharply. How do you deal with it?

I know one thing you can’t make everybody happy and everybody will not like you. But I actually focus on the fact that a large number of people love you and your work. The more I think about the trolling and negative people the more I am giving attention to them. These people just want attention. One day they are going to stop when they see that it is not getting reciprocated from me. I just ignore them. If you have confidence in yourself as a human being you are good.
