Exclusive! Siddhant Chaturvedi on his Gehraiyaan character: Hero or villain, that's up to the audience now

With his third film, Siddhant Chaturvedi has made people go gaga over him, and deservedly so! The actor is gearing up for the release of Gehraiyaan, in which he plays the role of Zain. The film features Siddhant being torn between two leading ladies, Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday. However, going by trailer, the actor also shows some grey shades compared to his co-stars. OTTplay asked Siddhant if the thought of how people would receive his character after the release came across his mind.

The Gully Boy actor exclusively told us, "I would not try to talk intelligently about it and be like, 'No, I know my craft and I don't care about the audience.' No, I do care about the audience. I come from them and am a part of them. When I watch a film, I do have my favourites. When I read the script, I realized that everybody would have their favourites. Shakun never walked up with one definite answer. You choose your character. Which one is your favourite? It's like Avengers. I am not saying this film is like the Avengers. But you choose your favourite."

Further sharing, Siddhant said, "As much as I know about my character, I tried to do justice to that. I knew that this would kind of grab a lot of eyeballs because it's going to be shot really well. It has Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, and Shakun Batra's storytelling and the way he does it. Even in Kapoor & Sons, he never passes judgment or tells you if this is the moral of the story. He always leaves you to think. So the choice here is passed on to the audience. I'm not saying that you will definitely love me or that you will definitely hate me. I'm just saying that I'm giving you a choice. The film gives you a choice to choose who's right or wrong. Trust me, if you see what we have done, what we're trying to achieve, you will walk out saying that Mr. Shakun Batra is the hero of the film."

The Bunty Aur Babli 2 actor went on to praise the filmmaker, saying, "The way he has directed or envisioned it is what matters because it's a director's film. It's his genius, and we are all religiously playing our characters. So it's different. I knew that my performance would be appreciated and that I would get a chance to romance the ladies. I always wanted to do a romantic film with a few romantic lines. And Anaita Shroff Adajania made me look good. For me, that's what it is. Hero or villain, that's up to the audience now."

Gehraiyaan directed by Shakun Batra also features Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa in the lead roles. The film is slated to release on February 11, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.
