Exclusive! Satyam Bhattacharya: Saswati was brave and proposed to me and thank god she did!

Earlier this year, OTTplay was the first to report that Satyam Bhattacharya was set to tie the knot this month with his girlfriend Saswati Sinha. Both the bride and groom are in the last leg of the preparations and gorging on a series of ‘aiburobhat’. Meanwhile, Satyam completed dubbing of his upcoming Addatimes web series Cabaret. In a candid chat, Satyam and Saswati walk down memory lane of their relationship and other details.

Satyam and Saswasti will tie the knot on January 22. They will move to a new apartment. The last-minute facelift work is joining on at the actor’s house. “After we get married, we will move into a new apartment, which is in the same building as where I live. Right now, we are doing a little bit of decoration like selecting curtains and upholstery, fixing the kitchen, etc,” said Satyam. Saswati meanwhile, is busy in last minute shopping. “There are tiny bit of last-minute things left. I am wrapping things up,” said the actress as both of them headed towards another ‘aiburobhaat’ on Thursday evening. 

Satyam has completed dubbing for his upcoming web series Cabaret and will be travelling to Tajpur for his bachelor party with friends. “In December and January, I had no shooting. I was busy with the Hypokrites’ theatre festival Porjash. I completed dubbing for Dadur Kirti, Halum, and Cabaret. Now I am off from work for a while. Saswati will take off from 19,” said Satyam.

Satyam revealed that it was Saswati who proposed to him after being ‘very good friends’ for a while. “When I was in my first year, teachers at my school Nava Nalanda called me to help them with their dance drama, Chitrangada. During my school, I used to dance. When I went there I met Saswati. She was admitted to our school from Gokhale Memorial in Class XI. We met and became friends. Later we worked together in Hypokrites and years later, she proposed to me. Our fondness has always been there but I am always the timid type. She is the brave one. When she finally told me I blurted out my feelings for her,” he said.  

Saswati recalled, “When I first saw him, I did not like him initially. And then I found him to be shy. I get along with introverted people better and we got along really well. We have always been very good friends. After years, I told him my feelings over the phone and soon disconnected. While I wanted him to know how I felt, I did not want to know his answer. Soon after that, he sent me long texts elaborating on his feelings.”

According to Satyam, Saswati has brought ‘stability’ in his life. “I was indisciplined. She has a calming effect on my life. She is sensible and soothes me. Besides, she is very talented, smart, and has a striking personality. It is her dedication that helped us to stay steady,” the actor gushed. 

Saswati will be wearing red Banarasi and Satyam will go for red Kurta and white dhoti. There is a selected list of industry people who are invited to the reception. “I invited those people with whom I worked directly. I assisted Srijitda (Mukherji) and I worked with Bumbada (Prosenjit Chatterjee). Anirbanda’s Ballavpurer Roopkotha established my career as an actor. They are there. However, my interaction with the crew is stronger since I worked as an AD for the longest time. Hence, most of the invited people are the crew members – camera people, costume designers, and others,” the actor said.
