Exclusive! Raj & DK give an update on Varun Dhawan-Samantha's Citadel: It's an original story that is part of the universe created by Russo Brothers

The release of Farzi is just around the corner, and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (Raj and DK) have already started shooting for their forthcoming series, Citadel India. The series, which unites Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is an action drama. The Russo Brothers have created the Citadel series in English, which stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden in the lead roles. The shoot for the international series is complete and set to premiere soon on Prime Video. While Raj and DK have only recently begun the Indian series.

In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, the filmmaker duo was asked to dish out some details about Citadel India. To which Raj stated, "Well, it has Varun Dhawan and it has Samantha (laughs). It's an action-packed series. It's a first for us, and it's a really cool collaboration we're doing with the Russo brothers. Their series is pretty much done, it looks super exciting, and we just started shooting."

Explaining how it's not an adaptation, DK revealed, "It's a completely original story. Of course, it's a part of the universe, but a lot of people tend to think it's an adaptation or a remake. That's not what it is. It's actually an independent series with an original story of its own that's just part of the universe that's been created by the Russo brothers. So that's the connection; the universe is the connection. The stories are independent."

Raj added, "We are shooting in Mumbai, and we are going to start going out now. Once the schedule ends, we are going to start shooting in other locations. We are loving it; it's a new story, a new genre. It's an action-drama; we are very excited. We are right in the middle of it, hence our sleepy faces (laughs)."

After The Family Man Season 2, Raj and DK are directing Samantha for the second time.
