Raj Chakraborty and his team are excited about the successful run of Habji Gabji which features Parambrata Chatterjee and Subhashree Ganguly in lead. The actor took to social media to express his happiness over the houseful shows. The film that delves into the mobile addiction of a child has been running in theatres.
On his social media, Parambrata posted a photograph of a houseful board hanging in front of a single screen theatre. “This board is what all creators actors technicians crave for…” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the actor-filmmaker is also planning to direct OTT content in both Bengali and Hindi. While talking to OTTPlay exclusively, he said, “Yes, I plan to direct something on OTT – both in Bengali and in Hindi. But that will happen in 2023.”
Talking about his constant switch between OTT and films, he said, “I don’t see any difference between working in OTT and films. However, in Bollywood, I worked more on OTT than in films. There is a lot of importance and focus in OTT right now because it has a bigger market.”
Parambrata also spoke about his constant travel between Bollywood and Mumbai. Talking about his Bollywood experience, he said, “They cater to a wider audience and hence a lot more is at stake. That's why a lot more care is given in the production.”
Parambrata debuted in Bollywood with Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani. Ever since the actor is going steady with a noticeable volume of work in Mumbai. Talking about his journey so far in Bollywood films and OTT projects, he said, “The success has brought about a certain amount of respect for the work that I do. People are now more interested in following the body of work that I accumulated over the past many years. They are interested in more and more Bengali actors. And through actors like me, Jisshu (U Sengupta) or Apuda (Saswata Chatterjee), they are getting to know Bengali works. That gives us great honour. It is simply a great thing. With us, probably certain floodgates are opening and if it is really happening then we should be the happiest lot.”
The actor is currently busy shooting Mumbai Diaries 26/11 Season 2. According to Anandabazar Patrika, the actor will soon work with Kannada filmmaker Pawan Wadeyar in his film, Notary, in which he is said to play the lead. Bursting the myth of Bengali actors getting only minor roles in Bollywood, Parambrata argued that actresses and actors from Bengal are actually bagging key characters in national projects. “I don’t think Bengali actors are only getting small roles. They are getting meaty roles. If the myth is bursting then I don’t think I am the one responsible for it. Apuda has been doing it for a long time. Paoli, whenever she has an outing, has been doing very important roles. Swastika (Mukherjee) has been doing important projects too. But yes, in the last a few months, I have done quite a bit of work,” the actor said.
