Exclusive! Koneenica Banerjee on Projapoti: Working with Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar is like attending an acting masterclass

The shooting of Avijit Sen’s family drama Projapoti is in full swing. The film has brought Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar back together 44 years after Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa. The film that focuses on the father and son relationship features Dev as Mithun’s son. Besides, the film also features Koneenica Banerjee, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Kharaj Mukhopadhyay and others. In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Koneenica opens up about her experience from the initial days of shooting.

The actress plays the daughter of Mithun, while Ambarish plays her husband. It is nothing short of fangirl moments for Koneenica to work with Mithun and Mamata Shankar. “Working with Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar is like attending an acting masterclass. I learned dancing from Mithunda. During the time I was growing up, he was ruling Bollywood. I have always been a great fan. This is the first time I am watching him so closely. While he is evidently a star, he is down-to-earth and loving. With Mithunda, you can talk about everything – cooking, diet plan, dancing, cinema, spirituality and what not! I am still in his awe,” says the actress. 

Meanwhile, with Mamata Shankar, Koneenica shares a long relationship. “I have adored Momodi’s (Mamata Shankar) dancing since I was a child. I have always been a fan of her choreography and personality. Watching her so closely while acting is an experience,” she says. 

Koneenica has also admitted that it is because of the director and producers, that she has readily accepted the offer. “This is my third film with Dev, Atanuda (Raychaudhuri, producers) and Avijitda. It has been a wonderful experience and hence the films that we made – Tonic and Hoichoi Unlimited – are also memorable. I am enjoying every moment of the shoot. Dev is a very diligent producer. Not only does he works hard for his role, he constantly thinks about the betterment of the script. If there is anything that he wants to suggest, he would immediately do it.
