During an exclusive conversation with us, Akshay Oberoi opened up about his upcoming South debut movie, Toxic. Showering praise on Yash, the actor said, "South is making some great cinema today and Yash is one of the most exciting action heroes of our time and the film is an incredibly huge project and I am so grateful to have cast in it."
According to reports, Toxic is going to be a period drama that explores the world of a drug cartel operating in Goa. The tagline, 'A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups,' hints at a dark narrative that is expected to keep audiences hooked. The story of the film will revolve around the 1950s to the 1970s and sources indicated the use of huge sets built on the outskirts of Bangalore to recreate the mid-20th century atmosphere.
The film reportedly will feature Nayanthara in the female lead role. As per reports, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan was initially considered, but she left the project due to creative differences.
For the uninitiated, reports also suggested that Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Shruti Haasan, were also considered for pivotal roles before Nayanthara. Recently, industry tracker Rohit Jaiswal shared that Toxic is aiming for a Christmas 2025 release.
