Aroh Welankar, best known for his Marathi films like Hostel Days and Funral, recently made his Bollywood debut. After working in the Marathi cinema, the actor ventured into the Hindi entertainment industry with Kabir Khan's Chandu Champion. He plays the role of Kartik Aaryan's son in the movie, which had its theatrical release on June 14. Post Chandu Champion's release, OTTplay interviewed Aroh, who opened up about portraying the role of Aaryan's son in Kabir's film.
Chandu Champion, based on Murlikant Petkar's life (India's first Paralympic gold medalist), sees Aroh play the character of Kartik's young son. When OTTplay asked the actor if he had apprehensions about portraying this role, he said, "I felt it was very interesting. To be cast as someone's elder brother or someone's husband would have been a problem for me. But to play a young 24-year-old guy, who is the protagonist's son, I think that was a good role. If you see the film, every time the film cuts to the present, I and Kartik are there."
Aroh further stated that he couldn't have asked for more in his first Hindi film. "If you have a co-star like Kartik Aaryan, Sajid Nadiadwala (producer), and Kabir Khan (director), what more can you ask for? I didn't have apprehensions but I had this gut feeling that told me 'Aroh, you have to do this. You need to do this because this is going to be nice and special'," he added.
Welankar is also happy that Chandu Champion turned out to be a good film, given how well the audience and critics received it. The movie opened to positive feedback and that resulted in good box office performance.
Meanwhile, Aroh will next be seen alongside Akshay Kumar in the film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. This film will feature Kumar in the character of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Details about Aroh's character are yet to be revealed.
