Kantara is now officially a pan-Indian film and perhaps the first film in modern history to achieve this status in the manner that it did. Following the tremendous outpour of love and support for the Kannada original, Kantara is set to release in four new dubbed versions (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam) and further extend its reach across the country. By virtue of this, one can expect the box office performance of the film to see a steeper rise over the next couple of weeks.

As far as the Kannada version is concerned, the latest trade reports reveal that the film is placed excellently at the moment with the second weekend of the theatrical run yielding some superb results. Having closed week #1 at the domestic box office at Rs. 30.3 crores, Kantara's collections have encountered a significant jump and Days 8 and 9 (2nd Friday & Saturday) have fetched close to Rs. 14 crores combined. The second Saturday alone is said to have earned the makers Rs. 8.15 crores (net) which now becomes the biggest day in terms of collections, beating that of the previous Wednesday (over Rs. 7 crores).

Kantara Telugu: Rishab Shetty's blockbuster to release in Telugu on this date

And that isn't it. Early estimates of Day 10 show that Kantara is likely to collect as much as Rs. 10 crores on the second Sunday to make this an excellent weekend for the film. Although the Rishab Shetty directorial has enjoyed a competition-free run during the ongoing week #2 of the theatrical run, one can assert that it's the word-of-mouth publicity doing all the magic as far as the box office performance is concerned.

The same reports share that as of October 9, Kantara's worldwide collection has crossed the Rs. 57 crores mark (net) and the gross collections are approximately Rs. 52.20 crores.

With the Hindi version scheduled to release on October 14 and the Telugu film a day after on October 15, it would be interesting to see if the film manages to attract newer crowds to the theatres. Many fans on the internet have vouched to give the film a second-viewing in their respective native languages and also urged others to give the film a shot in cinema halls post its release.

Anil Thadani's AA Films will distribute Kantara Hindi, Allu Aravind will do so for Kantara Telugu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran has come onboard as the distributor of the Malayalam version, and with two major league players now associated with the film, the sales are sure to go up considerably. The release dates of the Tamil and Malayalam versions of Kantara will be announced at the earliest.
