Rajshri Productions produced the 1994 musical romance drama film Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! which was written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya. In this film, which stars Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan, we see an ode to Indian wedding rituals seen through the eyes of a married couple and their families—a tale about the importance of family over personal love. Based on the Hindi novel Kohbar Ki Shart by Keshav Prasad Mishra, the story is essentially an adaptation of the studio's 1982 film Nadiya Ke Paar. The film features Raamlaxman's music, with an unusually large number of songs—14—that he composed at the time.

When it was first released, Hum Aapke Hai Koun..! was widely believed to be the most successful Bollywood film of all time. Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) is the sister-in-law of Prem's (Salman Khan) brother Rajesh (Mohnish Bahl), and Prem loves her. Tragically, Rajesh's family begs him to marry Nisha so they can raise his child, and Prem and Nisha make the difficult decision to put their love on hold.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham - Netflix, Prime Video

Karan Johar wrote and directed Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (or K3G), a family drama film from 2001, under Dharma Productions. Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan are all part of the ensemble cast, and Rani Mukerji makes an extended cameo appearance. Troubles and misunderstandings arise when an Indian multimillionaire family's adopted son marries a girl from a lower socioeconomic class, as the narrative goes.

Yashvardhan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) cuts relations with his eldest son, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), after the latter marries a lower-class woman (Kajol). His younger son, Rohan (Hrithik Roshan), is distraught to hear that his brother has moved out of the house when he comes home. In his quest to get his family back together, Rohan travels to London and meets Rahul. Will he be able to persuade his egocentric father to agree to a reunion, though?

K3G is an intimate look at an affluent Indian family's battle between tradition and modernity as it pertains to parental love, sibling bonds, and the film's central themes.

Baghban - Disney+ Hotstar

Baghban was a 2003 drama film that Ravi Chopra directed, scripted, and produced alongside B. R. Chopra. The film tells the story of Raj and Pooja, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, respectively, an old married couple. Following Raj's retirement, they get back together with their four sons—Aman Verma, Samir Soni, Saahil Chadha, and Nasir Khan—to figure out who will keep them going. Because no son is willing to care for both of their parents, Raj and Pooja have decided to live apart.

Baghban initiates a conversation on the responsibilities of family members towards each other, exploring the emotional turmoil of an elderly couple who perceive their children as abandoning them.

Piku - SonyLIV (OTTplay Premium)

N. P. Singh, Ronnie Lahiri, and Sneha Rajani produced the 2015 comedy-drama Piku, while Shoojit Sircar directed it. Architect Piku (Deepika Padukone) and her elderly, annoying father, Bhaskor Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan), become closer during a road trip to Kolkata, despite their ideological differences and arguments over insignificant matters.

This charming and heartwarming film follows an elderly father and his self-reliant daughter as they navigate the trials and triumphs of daily life together, all the while highlighting the profound love they share.

Kapoor and Sons: Since 1921 would be the perfect title for a family portrait of Amarjeet Kapoor's (Rishi Kapoor's) dying wish—that his children would capture. This seemingly simple chore turns out to be far more challenging than anticipated, as secret after secret about every family member comes to light. Watch the film to find out if this dysfunctional family can grant an elderly man's last wish.

In Kapoor & Sons, a contemporary family navigates the intricacies of relationships, secrets, and reconciliation in this drama set in the present day.
