House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3: Our weekly duties to pledge our loyalty to the throne have begun, and there is no way you can be late to bow down before the kings and queens of Westeros; mainly Rhaenyra, who now stands on a rather sensitive turn where she is being accused of killing a child in the dark of the night and through cowardly ways. She has confronted her husband, who still has the hunger for the throne somewhere in him, her grief has been misused by many, and she now needs to bring order to the realm more than ever. But how will she when everything is going against her and there is no sufficient army to defend her, while her half-brother sits on the iron throne, making the most incorrect decisions a ruler has ever taken? Well, that is where the Dance of the Dragons begins as House and the Dragon now move towards drama and gore like never before.
This Monday, we saw the release of the third episode of House of the Dragon on HBO Max in the West, and JioCinema in India. The last episode was about the aftermath of the killing of Prince Jaehaerys by Blood & Cheese on Daemon’s orders, the third is what happens now as the families are about to begin a civil war. The parties are running to find support, there are two mothers at loggerheads who were once best friends. There are their children who are small and some coming of age, accepting their truth, some sweeping it off under the rug, and one accepting it in the most inconsequential place (we see you Aemond).
As the third episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 progresses, we have a lot to digest. The twin warriors are given their respect in their last moments, Rhaenyra is having a hard time holding back and not unleashing the dragons on Alicent and her children. She knows the consequences and also knows that only peace can keep them all alive because if dragons go to war, cities will burn, and as the trailer said, none of them might ever win. Aemond & The Brothel
There is a very achingly beautiful version of Aemond that comes out in the place where men unleash the monsters in them. Aemond becomes a baby who needs a lullaby in the arms of the Madame he pours his heart out in front of. Episode 3 has him in the same place but with Aegon finding and taunting him. The scene is one of the most pivotal ones for Aemond's character development as he does the most King-like thing even when he isn't one, stands naked in front of everyone in the room without fear, and says the meanest of lines towards a woman he finds comfort in. Sacrifice your solace in return for your pride.
Baela Is A Warrior In The Making.
All this time, Baela was in the background and we only knew her as Daemon’s daughter. But in episode 3 of House Of The Dragon Season 2, she blooms into one of the most fierce future characters of the show. We see her finally riding her dragon, Moondancer, on a mission given to her by Rhaenrya. On her way to that mission, she spots the soldiers from King's Landing, including the commander and the newly appointed Hand, Ser Criston Cole, as they run from her. She follows them bravely and closely without fear, with a mischievous grin on her face. In that moment, you see a woman who is more than just obeying orders, but a complete warrior in herself.
Daemon Sees Young Rhaenyra.
Daemon, after his fight with his wife Rhaenrya, has taken refuge in Harrenhall, a place doomed to be in ruins forever it seems. As he decides to stay, he is in a room that is not only leaking but also has no latches or locks on the door, only a sword to stop anyone from coming in. Someone forcefully tries to open it and disappears. At that very moment, he draws his sword and walks out to investigate. In one room, he sees a young Rhaenyra, played by Milly Alcock, who is sewing the severed head of Jaehaerys back to his body. He soon realizes it is just a vision, but the emotion of regret and fear is overwhelming.
"You Will Die In This Place!"
The first real-time prophecy of House Of The Dragon arrives in season 2, episode 3. After the vision, Daemon goes out in Harrenhall and stands near what seems like the sacred tree (remember the ones from Winterfell?). We see Alys River walking from behind and telling him, “You will die in this place.” She walks away and nothing more about their prophecy is revealed. It will be fun to see how the fans decode it.
Rhaenyra Meets Alicent. Yes!
Alicent Hightower is the only hope to bring peace and stop the war, Rhaenys tells Rhaenrya, and she does think the same. Rhaenrya now wants to meet Alicent, but how does she go to King's Landing as herself? Well, there are ways, and this one requires her to dress like a Septa and go to meet Alicent in disguise. The two strongest women in Westeros meet, and their conversation is nothing less than fiery. House Of The Dragon Season 2 only flies higher from this end.
