Ajay Devgn is all set to release his first film of the year, Shaitaan, a supernatural thriller co-starring R. Madhavan and Jyotika. The actor-filmmaker announced at the beginning of the week that the trailer for his upcoming film, Maidaan, will be out this Thursday. The much-delayed film will finally have its big theatrical release during the Eid 2024 weekend, which is likely on April 10.
That's not it! Ajay has almost five releases announced for this year, and all are different genres from each other. Beginning with Shaitaan, the film marks his return to the supernatural genre after nearly seven years. That is Golmaal Again (2017), but it was a comedy. In 2005, the actor revealed himself as a ghost in Kaal, marking his last out-and-out horror flick.
On the other hand, Maidaan, his next release after Shaitaan, is a biopic based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, who was India's football coach in a period between 1952 and 1962. Well, it's a double release for Ajay in April of this year. Just a couple of weeks after the release of Maidaan, the actor will be gearing up for the release of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which will hit the big screens on April 26, 2024. After Bholaa, Ajay and Tabu reunite in the Neeraj Pandey-directed film.

After a small gap, Ajay will be back with Rohit Shetty's Singham Again during the Independence Day 2024 weekend. He will be reprising his iconic role as Bajirao Singham in his film, as well as reuniting with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Rohit Shetty.
Ajay will also reprise his role as IRS Officer Amay Patnaik in Raj Kumar Gupta's Raid 2, set to release on November 15, 2024. This time, Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor will join the actor.
Ajay is starring in five films this year that will be released back-to-back on the big screen. Interestingly, before just one release in 2023 with Bholaa, which he also directed, the actor-filmmaker had six releases in 2022.
The actor made extended cameo appearances in two films, including Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR. He also made his web series debut with Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Ajay went on to play the lead role in his second directorial, Runway 34, which was a sleeper hit at the box office. Furthermore, Ajay appeared in the comedy film Thank God after a three-year hiatus. Last but definitely not least, the actor's return to his iconic role as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 2 went on to become a blockbuster in 2022.
We have to wait and watch to see if, after a limited appearance on screen in 2023, Ajay's career trajectory shapes in 2024 with films that are genre shifts for the actor in many ways.
