The Big Bang Theory was a popular sitcom that was full of science, hilarious escapades, and endearing characters. Its successful run of 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019 gave birth to another highly acclaimed prequel, Young Sheldon, that explores the childhood of the genius physicist Sheldon Cooper, and his quirky yet relatable characters.

Sadly, the series ends this year, with its seventh season airing every week. However, the show will have to abide by these 5 limitations imposed by previously aired information on The Big Bang Theory before ending.

Missy’s untapped potential and sort-of sad future

Season 7 Episode 1 of Young Sheldon already sees Missy stepping into Mary’s shoes and being the ‘mom of the house’. Despite her tender age, she is already better at whipping up breakfast, packed lunches, and taking care of the house than her father. Missy’s smartness, sharp perception, and baseball potential in Young Sheldon, all appear futile in this season unless anything special is concocted or a spinoff based on her, due to her The Big Bang Theory future.

In TBBT, Missy separates from her husband, works a deadbeat job, and has her baby after separating from her husband. However, later it is announced that she has remarried and has lots of more babies, rendering her to a traditional, sidelined, homely role, instead of the firecracker, streetsmart, bossy little lady that Young Sheldon has shown till now.

George and Mary’s slowly crumbling marriage and the former’s cheating scandal

George and Mary’s marriage actually flourishes in the initial seasons, with its share of ups and downs. However, as it had already been shown on TBBT that George had had a cheating scandal and that his parents had simply not separated for the children’s sake before his demise. What could have been a beautiful marriage that could have run on for seasons, given the exceptional performances of Lance Barber and Zoe Perry, was doomed from the start.

Now all that remains is for George and Brenda to officiate their illicit affair in the bedroom to be caught and publicly scandalized by all. As for Mary, since she had already engaged in an emotional affair with Pastor Ron previously, after an initial devastating blow, she might get back in her own way by looking for greener pastures in George’s presence.

Georgie and Mandy’s doomed relationship

Georgie and Mandy’s relationship began on an odd note, with their secrets about their age and identity, as well as their baby conundrum. However, the worst is yet to come and these early, tumultuous days with baby Ceecee may be their only happy ones. It was earlier revealed in TBBT that when Georgie steps up to care for the family after father George’s death, things got tough.

He separates from his wife before going full playboy and never really settling down sincerely after Mandy. Though the reason for the separation is not given, answers shall be coming.Given the fact that a new spinoff has been announced by CBS that will follow Georgie and Mandy’s future adventures, it can be expected that we will get to see more of the adorable family before it breaks apart.

The death of the beloved Cooper patriarch

It was revealed in The Big Bang Theory that Sheldon lost his father when he was 14 to a heart attack and that despite all his flaws, he never really got to appreciate the man for all he sacrificed and did for him and the rest of the family. George’s character has been shown far more favorably in Young Sheldon than as portrayed verbally in TBBT.

Here, he is a caring father, a flawed human, a loving husband who does not know how to communicate and connect with his prudish wife anymore and keep his family and Mary happy, despite never getting any credit for it. His death, though anticipated, has been dreaded by all fans alike and approaches like an ominous event for all viewers before the show ends.

Sheldon’s utter lack of concern for his family, even after his father’s demise

Though Young Sheldon is about its eponymous hero Sheldon Cooper, due to The Big Bang Theory’s adult obnoxious and selfish Sheldon’s persona at the beginning of the show (that later evolves and gains empathy, friends, and kindness), his younger self, essayed by Ian Armitage, has been restricted to a two-dimensional character who cannot escape the glory of his own brilliance and is blinded by his ego.

Despite possessing such a caring family, as shown in Young Sheldon, TBBT’s Sheldon had always complained about his life back in Texas, focusing on the bad bits and none of the good ones. Though young Sheldon showed more empathy and sweetness in the previous seasons, his character is being regressed back to the stubborn and selfish premise of a Sheldon who will not much care for his family in the future.

Never even trying to look past the protective illusion, Georgie casts around the family’s struggles after their father’s demise, Sheldon goes about studying physics and doing grand things in life. Fans are going to miss the sweet moments shared by Sheldon with his family members, as after leaving Texas, his journey with TBBT group begins and he never really looks back again.
